The third edition of the Miradas Compartidas Olympics was held at the Antofagasta School Sports Complex, attracting over 400 people.

The event, organized by Fundación Miradas Compartidas in collaboration with SQM Iodine Plant Nutrition and the Antofagasta Municipal Sports and Recreation Department (Corporación Municipal de Deporte y Recreación de Antofagasta or CMDR), brought together representatives from several districts: Tocopilla, María Elena, San Pedro de Atacama, Pozo Almonte and Antofagasta.

Since the event’s inception, SQM Iodine Plant Nutrition has been part of this initiative to promote sports as a tool for inclusion and integration. Well-known TV personality Angélica Castro hosted this year’s edition.

The day was filled with energy, sports and camaraderie, with competitions in various disciplines such as soccer, swimming and sports gymkhanas, seeking to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities in a space of equality and companionship.

INCLUSION

Inclusion is a fundamental pillar of SQM Iodine Plant Nutrition’s responsible business development model. This event reinforces its commitment to contribute to the well-being of the communities where it operates.

In this regard, Pablo Pisani, Corporate Affairs Manager for SQM Iodine Plant Nutrition, commented, “This event reflects our work throughout the year, covering various territories where we actively engage with our communities. Inclusion achieves things that other programs do not, actively involving our workers and the community. It is a meaningful value within our organization and we are proud to promote it.”

Felipe Olavarría, CEO of Fundación Miradas Compartidas remarked that the event “is very valuable because it wraps up the recreational activities we organize in different regions for people with disabilities. The most important thing about this activity is that it brings together workers from different companies with our students, demonstrating that inclusion can happen in a healthy and enriching way.”

Braulio Otárola, Executive Director of CMDR Antofagasta, commented, “We have had many activities at the School Sports Complex, but games like these are really heartwarming for us as an institution. Part of our mission is to include people with disabilities and create an inclusive link between them and companies supporting the foundation, allowing opportunities like this to take place in our region.”

This initiative demonstrates the strong, shared commitment of the participating companies to promote social inclusion in the Antofagasta Region, generating opportunities to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and promoting their active integration into society.
