The Global Battery Alliance (GBA) is a public-private collaboration platform founded in 2017 at the World Economic Forum. Its goal is to establish a sustainable and responsible battery value chain by 2030, addressing social and environmental challenges associated with battery production and use. The GBA comprises over 170 member organizations, including businesses, governments, academics, and NGOs, working together to promote sustainable practices throughout the battery value chain. ​

SQM is the only lithium producer participating in this international alliance. By joining the GBA, SQM commits to adhering to its 10 guiding principles, which encompass sustainable lithium production, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and improving energy efficiency. These commitments align with SQM’s Sustainability Plan, reflecting its dedication to responsible practices in lithium production and distribution. ​
