SQM received award for promoting good investor relationships
The Latin American Investor Award 2011 (LirA), is aimed to highlight the good communication between companies and their investors together with good corporate governance practices, this award was first held in Latin America.
The awards ceremony was attended by leading national companies with stock market presence in Chile, Peru and Colombia. In the category Best Investor Relation by CEO, the General Manager of SQM, Patricio Contesse, was awarded third place.
In this context, Patricio Contesse said. "At SQM, we have committed ourselves tirelessly to perfect our corporate governance practices in order to continue with the ethical handling of the organization and this recognition is the result of that work. We work on a daily basis to maintain good relations with the communities we work with, among them, our investors, who are constantly informed on the strengths, opportunities and challenges of the Company, because we understand the role they play in the success achieved by the company ".
SQM within the top ten in the ranking of best global mining companies
During the first half of 2011, SQM was honored by the Boston Consulting Group for its level of value creation for shareholders between years 1999-2009, being ranked with a 7th place.
The ranking "Value creation in mining: Beyond comomodities prices" in its twelfth annual presentation, assessed at 37 major mining companies, i.e. those with a market value of at least US$5 billion, with income equal to or greater than US$ 2 million and with at least 25% of its shares available in the public capital markets.
Safety- related awards
• The National Service of Geology and Mining (SERNAGEOMIN), through the Mine Safety Annual Competition, distinguished SQM's Plant of Lithium Carbonate for its behavior of excellence in the care of their workers, goods and resources.
• The College of Experts in Mine Safety of Chile awarded Mr. Cristian Saavedra (Iodine Production Manager of New Victoria Plant) for his constant commitment to safety.
• During the anniversary No. 31st. of the Commune, SQM received from the Municipality of San Pedro de Atacama, a distinction for the company's contribution to the various activities carried out in the commune.
• During the anniversary No. 43rd. The Municipality of Maria Elena awarded SQM, for the contribution that the company has carried out to the industrial and economic development in northern Chile, with emphasis on the district of Maria Elena.
